Why Quell filters
-
No electricity
Disruptor™ filters run on tap pressure or gravity.
-
Eco-friendly
Fewer plastic 5-gallon bottles in your home.
-
0% water waste
Disruptor™ filters send nothing down the drain.
-
99.9% of bacteria removed
Lab-tested against bacteria and viruses.
01 · The last metre
Qatar's water leaves the plant clean, then it travels
Most of it starts as desalinated seawater, treated to drinking standard. On the way to your glass it crosses the network, can sit in a rooftop tank through 45 °C afternoons, then runs through your building's own pipes. Taste, smell and whatever the water picks up are decided in that last stretch.

Your glass
The last metre. The one you control.

A Disruptor™ fibre
2 nanometres wide, 50,000 times thinner than a sheet of paper, and positively charged. So the viruses stick.

03 · Electroadsorption
It doesn't sieve, it attracts
Disruptor™ is a mat of aluminium-oxide nanofibres, each about 2 nm wide. In water the fibres carry a positive charge. Most bacteria, viruses and microplastic fragments carry a negative one, so they are pulled out of the flow and held. The pores stay around 2 µm wide, which is why water still moves fast, even by gravity alone.
Activated carbon takes care of chlorine, odour and taste. Antimicrobial silver keeps the cartridge itself clean.

Disruptor™ does not remove dissolved salts or nitrates, does not soften water, and cannot make seawater drinkable. For softer water, choose TRINITY 600 reverse osmosis.

04 · Mission log
From a NASA research contract to a kitchen in Lusail
Water is heavy to launch, so on long missions every drop has to be cleaned and used again. The filter medium in your Quell cartridge began as an answer to that problem.
-
2000
NASA Johnson Space Center awards Argonide Corporation a Phase I SBIR contract to develop filtration for recycled water on spacecraft.
-
2002
Phase II. The electropositive nanoalumina fibre media is refined: 2 nm fibres that capture particles far smaller than the pores.
-
2006
Ahlstrom of Finland licenses the media and produces it at scale under the name Disruptor™.
-
2019
Quell, the European brand whose filters use Disruptor™, wins an iF Design Award for its TRINITY 600.
-
2025
Halo Water opens in Lusail as Quell's official representative and exclusive distributor in Qatar.
NASA does not endorse Halo Water, Quell or their products. NASA's role was funding the original research through Small Business Innovation Research contracts. Disruptor™ is a trademark of its owner.

Qatar
Is this really NASA technology?
The filter medium inside, Disruptor™, grew out of research NASA funded through SBIR contracts with Argonide Corporation in 2000 and 2002, aimed at purifying recycled water on spacecraft. It was then licensed to Ahlstrom and produced as Disruptor™. NASA does not endorse Halo Water or Quell products.
Does it remove the minerals from my water?
No. Disruptor™ keeps the minerals already in your water, so there is nothing to add back. If you want softer water to stop limescale, choose reverse osmosis: TRINITY 600.
How often do I change the filter?
NOMAD: about 200 L or 2 months. EIVA: 480 L or 3 months. Countertop and under-sink Disruptor™ cartridge: about 3,000 L or 6 months. TRINITY 600: PP+CB every 6 months, GAC every year, RO membrane every 3 years. Replace sooner if the flow slows noticeably.
Countertop or under-sink?
Choose under-sink if you can add a second tap and have space below the sink. Choose countertop if you can't drill into your sink, for example a porcelain one, or if you want a temporary installation.
Can I filter hot water?
No. Hot water damages the filter. Fill your NOMAD bottle with water up to 38 °C.
Will it make seawater drinkable?
No. Disruptor™ does not remove dissolved salts or nitrates, and it is not suitable for filtering seawater.
How do I order?
